Numerical Investigation of the Heat-Fluid Characteristic inside High-Speed Angular Contact Ball Bearing Lubricated with Grease

The development of special grease makes it possible for angular contact ball bearings to operate at high speed and temperature, so, become necessary investigate thermal-fluid characteristics inside high-speed bearing lubricated with grease. In this paper, a simulation model was established CFD software Fluent, the heat-fluid-solid coupling method used analyze distribution flow grease, heat transfer, temperature field chamber. results show that, chamber very inhomogeneous, most distributed on both sides rolling elements along outer raceway its velocity low, only little adhered surface roll-ing elements, cage, inner ring, high; becomes more inhomoge-neous increase speed; in transfer conduction dom-inant plays key role, convec-tion air insignificant; affected by condition rise components obviously different, have highest tempera-ture ring slightly lower than that lowest. Bearing experiment conducted self-made test rig verified validity accuracy numerical simulation. study will provide some reference lubrication design thermal analysis
